Camcorder Bargains

I've been trying to upload movies from my Canon up onto imovie. I found a cord and I'm pretty sure it's the one to use. It fits perfectly into the camera and MAC. However, when I plug it in, nothing shows up saying its uploading or that I want to import. I've done it fine a while ago in the past where it worked perfectly. Haven't updated or changed anything on the computer since... I'm not sure what the problem is, please help! Thanks
